Bevor wir mit der eigentlichen SMED-Analyse beginnen, definieren wir zusammen die Ziele und das Lean-Team schätzt und dokumentiert die zu erwartenden Ergebnisse. Je nach Wissensstand der Mitarbeiter erläutern kurz die Lean-Grundlagen. Ergänzend setzen wir Beispielvideos zum Thema >Verschwendung erkennen und Prozessabläufe optimieren< ein. lean och i det arbetet ingår användning av metoderna SMED och 5S. Iakttagelserna görs under rundvandring i mejeriet och under deltagande i en SMED-övning. Den iakttagna SMED-övningen görs på ett specifikt produktbyte på en av mejeriets 13 produktionslinor.

The term SMED stands for “Single Minute Exchange of Dies”. In Lean manufacturing initiatives generically it has become an acronym for Setup Reduction i.e. the effort to reduce the amount of downtime involved in changing over from one part or process to another. SMED, short for Single-Minute Exchange of Dies, refers to a method in the Lean Production System that is used for quick, simplified and efficient production set-up and changeover from one product/process to another, which often constitute the major causes of production downtime (non-productive time/stoppages) 1. from lean production sys tem such as Single Minute Exchange Die -SMED, takt time, kanban and others.
